Features of the Sony WH-CH700N Wireless Headphones

Below are some of the features of the Sony WH-CH700N

Design

The Sony WH-CH700N is available in three color options; however, this may vary according to your market. It has a semi-foldable design, meaning the ear cups may be turned 90 degrees to rest flat on your chest.

The headset is entirely made of plastic. The ear cups feature a matte texture on the front with a sparkly, metallic finish on the rear to provide some intrigue. The headband is made of soft-touch leather material with a gleaming, chrome-like embellishment on both ends. The ear cushions are made of the same leather material as the headband.

Controls are located on the bottom of each ear cup. The big power button on the left speaker may be pushed and held to switch the headphones on/off or to enable pairing mode. When the headphones are on, they may also be pushed momentarily to hear the battery level. Next to it is a micro USB charging connector and an NC switch which is located next to the jack for attaching the aux cable for wired audio.

A playback toggle is located on the right ear cup. Slide it up or down to go back or forth in your playlist, or tap it to play/pause or pick up the call. A big volume control switch is located next to it.

Once you have gotten used to where the buttons are, they’re quite simple to operate. The playback toggle is a little easy to mistakenly move, and the volume buttons don’t increase level when you touch and hold them, so you have to keep tapping them to adjust the volume.

Sound Quality

The Sony WH-CH700N audio quality is among the most balanced of a more popular set of Sony headphones, and it doesn’t push too hard to replicate the original Beats sound, which has changed over time.

It offers a great sound that fits in with a wide range of musical genres. The bass is crisp and punchy, clearly superior to reference levels but not inflated or overwhelming. It also doesn’t suffocate the mid-range, giving it room to breathe.

The mid-range is naturally muted, but not to the extent that it makes it difficult to hear the voices and instruments.

The high-end is the highlight of the sound. The Sony WH-CH700N’s high-end response is quite energetic, making the sound very clear and clean. The increase in the upper-mid frequency region, on the other hand, lends some voices and electronic sounds a sharp edge, which is a double-edged sword.

Battery Life

The Sony WH-CH700N headphones have a battery life of 35 hours with NC on and 40 hours without it, according to Sony. That’s more than any other headphones in this price range, and even many more expensive ones. If you fly frequently, you can go through even the world’s longest trips on a single charge.

The charging time is a bit of a let-down in terms of battery life. While a ten-minute charge is intended to provide you with 60 minutes of battery life, a complete charge from 0% to 100% takes a whopping seven hours. While you won’t be charging these headphones very often, it’s advisable to plan and charge them overnight because they won’t charge quickly.

Comfort

One of the most essential elements of a headphone, nearly as vital as the audio quality, is comfort. The Sony WH-CH700N is a pair of headphones that are quite comfy. Your ears will have plenty of room to breathe thanks to the big, open ear cups. When you put them on, they don’t fit as snugly around your ears as other noise-canceling headphones, and there’s a less intense feeling.

Despite being less luxurious than on the more costly 1000XM3, the ear pads are adequate. Your ears will, however, come into contact with the interior of the speaker grille due to the ear pads’ lack of thickness. The headphones’ weight is likewise on the lighter side, thanks to the plastic design. All in all, these headphones are comfy and simple to use.

Noise Cancellation

The Sony WH-CH700N comes with active noise cancellation. However, it isn’t one of the headphones’ strongest features.

The design of the ear cups is the main problem. The ear cups are designed to be broad and shallow. When compared to other noise-canceling headphones on the market, this makes the headphones more comfortable to use but also makes the active noise cancellation feature’s function more difficult.

Because the ear cushions aren’t very deep, they don’t provide a good seal around your ears. Small holes are left below your ears, which aren’t properly covered by the ear cups’ shallow and thin cushioning. When you turn or tilt your head, bigger holes open up, allowing outside sound to enter.

Any noise cancellation is preferable to none, and even at their worst, the Sony WH-CH700N is still far quieter than a regular set of headphones, and I’d choose them over standard headphones for a plane journey any day.

Portability

The Sony CH700N headphones aren’t the most portable, but they should fit inside a bag. The ear cups swivel to allow the headphones to rest flat, but unlike some of the other over-ears, they don’t fold into a more compact configuration.

What Type of Activities are Sony WH-CH700N Best For

Conclusion

The Sony WH-CH700N is a great all-around pair of headphones. The design is pleasant to wear, the sound quality is pleasing and flexible, and the battery life is among the best in the industry.

Still, when seen only as a set of wireless stereo headphones, the Sony WH-CH700N is quite excellent, primarily because they successfully address the two most common complaints about Bluetooth headphones: low audio quality and limited battery life.
